Why It's Hard to Find A Job in the Era of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence has completely changed the job market. While some people may see AI as a threat, I believe it’s more of a shift or pivot, and one that demands that we adapt. Many traditional job roles are being automated, especially in industries like technology, manufacturing, and even customer service by using AI agents. Companies are now disrupting employment by deploying AI for roles previously held by individuals or looking for potential employees who can work with AI tools rather than be replaced by them.
I believe this creates both challenges and opportunities. On one hand, it’s scary to think about losing your job to technology. On the other hand, it’s exciting to imagine how AI can assist us work smarter, not harder. For example, someone in marketing can use Marketo (Marketing Automation) or Jasper to write emails faster, while an engineer can use AI for expedited data analysis or simulation testing in GitHub. The trick is not to resist AI, but to learn how to augment and make AI your ally.
To improve your odds of getting hired or staying in your current position with AI reskilling or retraining, you can start by learning AI basics, like how automation works or how to use AI tools and platforms specific to your field. Many companies now offer free or low-cost AI courses through platforms like Coursera or LinkedIn Learning. These certifications and experience can be placed on your LinkedIn/Glassdoor/Indeed profiles and show that you’ve taken the initiative to learn AI skills that can boost your CV or résumé to make it stand out
